Genoa: City Hotels and Accommodation
Central Genoa contains a good selection of lodging options and lies a mere 6 km / 4 miles south-east of Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA). This is no shortage of hotels in the city, although some of the cheaper options can be rather basic and uninviting. The budget accommodation around Genoa's two train stations, the Stazione Principe and the Stazione Brignole, can be particularly grim, although a few redeeming hotels are sited in these areas if you look hard enough.
One of the best parts of Genoa in which to stay can be found on the western side of the Stazione Principe, where a cluster of quality accommodation options reside. Many parts of the Old Quarter are also especially appealing and contain a variety of hotels, although one-star lodging should generally be avoided, particularly along the Via di Prè and close to the port.
Popular hotels in Genoa include the three-star Astoria on the Piazza Brignole, the grand Bristol Palace along the Via XX Settembre 25, and the Carletto on the Via Colombo, close to the bustling Via San Vincenzo. Also worth noting, the Jolly Hotel Marina on Ponte Calvi enjoys an enviable waterfront location, with modern rooms and summer discounts in August.
